How To Tell If youre Having An Anxiety Panic Attack

By Anna Barlow

If youre not sure if youve suffered an anxiety panic attack, here are some of the typical symptoms of a panic attack:

1. Shortness of breath or hyperventilating.

2. Crying at the same time you have shortness of breath or hyperventilating.

3. A racing heart combined with tingling sensations.

4. Dizziness leading to a feeling of panic.

5. A feeling of overwhelming dread or fear

6. Obsessive worries or unwanted thoughts.

I suffered my first panic attack at work. Luckily, there wasnt anyone else in the room. I couldnt believe I was actually having a panic attack! I had heard and read about them but didnt think I would ever have one.

In my case, I was hyperventilating and crying at the same time, my heart was racing, and I had an overwhelming feeling of dread. Although the attack only lasted a few minutes, it felt like a lifetime. Suffering from a panic attack can be a very scary experience.

I suffered my last panic attack on the train, going home from work. I had been quite anxious about going home on the train and my anxiety turned into a full blown panic attack. This attack was the worst one I had experienced. The train wasnt very full though, so no one noticed me having a panic attack. In retrospect, I dont know whether thats good or bad!

The symptoms were the same as my first attack, but more intense. There was no doubt in my mind that I was suffering from an anxiety induced panic attack.
