Existing With Anxiety Or Panic Attacks

by Lois Arvin Walker

Have you been awakened in the middle of the night with an overpowering sense of terror, but can't figure out what it is that you are so afraid of? Have you been in the grocer, walking down the aisles, watching your own business, when you all of a sudden break out in a cold sweat, start shaking, and feel an intense need to run out of the store as quickly as possible? Do you find yourself worrying intolerably over things that you use to take in stride? If so , you could be going through uneasiness or panic fits.

It's said that 4 million people suffer because of this disorder. It's also known as Generalized hysteria disorder. Subjected to unnecessary nervousness can not only cause emotional symptoms, but can also steer you to be afflicted by physical symptoms as well . ( Headaches, muscle tension, sweating, revulsion, having difficulty sleeping, and so on.

The precise cause for nervous attacks isn't known. Many factors do seem to contribute to it though. A number of these are genetics, ( family members that suffer from it also ), brain chemistry, ( aberrant levels of certain neurotransmitters ), and environmental tensions,eg death of a friend or family member, abuse, divorce, for example. It is more common in ladies then men, and can begin in infancy, or may not show up until adulthood.

If you think that you may be subjected to anxiety or panic attacks/disorder, it's best to see your doctor as fast as possible. It can be diagnosed, most likely, by your GP asking you certain questions, not only about your medical history, but also by performing a physical examination. They may base their diagnosis on the intensity and duration of your symptoms.

Treatment for uneasiness disorders include medication, behaviour treatment and/or relaxation strategies. Medications frequently used to treat anxiety defects are often employed in a short term manner, and include a class of substances called benzodiazepines. The medicine helps as it has a tendency to help make you feel calmer, can relax your muscles, and help with restlessness. Some of the common medicine's used include Xanax, Valium, Ativan and Librium. It could take a few weeks for these medications to'kick in'. A number of these medicines are addictive, so your physician should/will monitor your usage.

It would also be suggested that you try behavior treatment, in which you learn to recognize what thoughts and behaviors might be leading you into having an anxiety attack. You may be able to learn to change your thought patterns, and learn to take a look at worries in a more practical way. This could be tried alone, or along with medicine.

Anxiety attacks/Panic anomalies, can't be stopped by'willing' your consciousness to stop them, but you can do a few things to help control some of the worst symptoms. Attempt to restrict your caffeine intake, exercise each day, eat healthy, and always seek treatment from a professional if you're feeling it is becoming beyond control .
