Avoiding Anxiety - What Can I Do to Feel Better Today?

Anxiety can be a living hell, but you do not have to be powerless in this situation, and there are a number of things that you can do to help yourself today. My job over the last 16 years has involved supporting and helping many people who suffer from anxiety and panic, and those that have been determined have found a way forward to peace and harmony in their lives.

How can you ease those anxious feelings today

a) Slow down, be realistic with yourself, and do not try to fit too much into your day. Learn to say "NO" to yourself and others if necessary. Feeling overwhelmed is avoidable if you will assert yourself andtake some control.

b) Quit nicotine, alcoholic drinks, energy and obvoius caffeine based drinks. All of these adversely affect your nervous system, and will aggravate your symptoms. Avoid cannabis and illegal drugs too, as these will only make things feel worse too.

c) Take a closer look at your worries - what can you address, and what must you accept because you cannot change it.

d) Life is too short to worry, and most things never occur anyway so stop struggling. What is the worst that can happen - Know that you can deal with it with help and encoragement, so stop worrying! Worrying changes nothing, and most thing don't happen anyway, so why strain!

e) Make sure you allow time for adequate sleep, rest and sex, all will add quality to your lives and relationships! You also need to set about time for fun relaxation, hobbies, exercise. I combine all of these by walking my dogs! Sleeping at night will be easier if you have taken some time to excercise and unwind.

f) Look up local support groups, as it helps enormously to talk to others who understand.
