Panic Attacks - Can They Be Stopped Without Taking Drugs?

Panic attacks and/or anxiety attacks, as there's not much difference, can hit you at any time. They usually hit you at the worst possible moment. If you have had one I'm sure you pray you don't get another. Well your prayers could be about to come true.

Hit Like A Train

My wife was hit with a very severe panic attack while she was driving the car. Clearly this could have had disastrous consequences. As soon as we knew we were safe and the initial shock had died down, shock for us both I might add. We made an appointment to see our doctor.

After the lecture that it's all in her head we eventually got prescribed beta blockers. I say "we" because even though it was my wife having it, I was feeling like part of it all. If that makes any sense. The drugs would (he promised) stop her heart from racing at the onset of an attack, thus stopping the attack. All good in theory.

We tentatively went out in the car again and sure enough at the same junction my wife started to feel an attack coming on. Basically she had a panic attack while the drugs kept her heart rate slower. She said it was the strangest feeling having a panic attack but at the same time feeling quite calm.

Say No To Drugs

We trashed the beta blockers as soon as we got safely home. My wife suffered for about nine months not being able to get behind the wheel. She never had a panic attack either, which was a mixed blessing.

We couldn't let this situation go on. Her not being able to drive for fear of having an attack at the wheel. I did some in depth research on the web and we came across various techniques to try. Which we did with varying results. We never found anything that really worked for long.

We'll Try Anything Once

I came across yet another "system" that claimed to be a magic bullet. As we had tried everything we found so far we tried this also. Initial results were ok. We knew any success was because of the method and not the drugs, which she wasn't taking. The first time she drove she felt an attacked looming. However she quickly put the method into practice and got through the attack ok.

We had a chat later and she reported she definitely had an attack. But using the methods she was able to tone it down considerably. Just knowing she had been able to lower the intensity was a huge boost in itself. She was sure the next time she could stop it all together. She didn't.

Bit By Bit

Again though, she managed to lessen its effects. Each and every time she felt an attacking growing she decreased its effects. It wasn't too long (weeks) before she felt confident enough to see an attack coming and to halt it from going any further.

If you feel overwhelmed by these sudden attacks you have the choice to do nothing, or seek medical help in the form of drugs from your doctor. Which may or may not work? Good luck.

Or you could say "enough" and take the matter into your own hands. Learn to kill these panic attacks dead with no need for drugs. The solution is at this website…
