Tips to Stop Anxiety Attacks
Stress is a normal part of everyday life for billions of people. Some stress is good, it helps us meet the challenges of daily life and helps us deal with difficult situations. Frequently, however, this daily stress builds up and causes panic attacks, crippling them mentally and preventing them from enjoying life. These anxiety attacks can be prevented however by following a few very basic tips.
Stay Calm and Control Your Breathing
At the onset of a panic attack it is easy to become quickly overwhelmed by the stress of everyday life. When this happens take several deep, slow breathes at regular intervals. By controlling your body with steady breathing you can help stop anxiety attacks. As with most simple physical techniques, people make the mistake of assuming it can be directly and immediately applied in a moment. Controlled breathing takes practice and patience. Try to take time out of your day to practice your breathing technique so the next time you become overwhelmed you can easily calm yourself back down.
Exercise Regularly and Stay Fit
A person's state of mind is directly related to their body image. Not only does regular exercise help you control adrenaline flow (which occurs during a panic attack) but it also give you a general feeling of wellnessm decreasing daily stress. Staying physically fit is a great way to relieve stress and build a positive body image, helping to reduce overall anxiety.
Eat Healthy and Avoid Stimulants
Similar to exercise, good diet makes you feel healthier and gives you more energy eliminating the stress of feeling overworked. Stimulants such as caffeine cause you to be more alert. This artificial alertness, however, makes it difficult to stay calm and can cause stress at minor inconveniences. Caffeine and sugar are often accompanied by a "crash" which can cause you to feel tired and cranky causing stress which leads to anxiety attacks.
Overall, the most important way to stop anxiety attacks is to remain calm and leverage your life in a positive direction. The stress and aggrevation of daily life cannot be solved with pills and medications but rather by personal initiative. Taking the time to exercise, eat well and practicing remaining calm are excellent ways to help reduce the amount of stress in your daily life and stop anxiety attacks.
